Quick Overview

Also called “Princess Flower” or “Purple Glory”, the Tibouchina is an amazing purple-flowering tree that you can encounter often in South Florida. Its pinkish to violet blossoms will capture your heart and you won’t stop admiring it. In order to preserve its beauty, find some shade to protect your Tibouchinas. They don’t grow very fast and will reach up to 15 feet. However, it is better to keep it around 8 to 10 feet.

Even though it is not easy to grow, it is really worth the effort. This tree make people stop by and they might even knock at your door to ask what type of tree it is. There are many varieties of Tibouchina, all of them are shrubs. Occasional trimming is recommended, especially if you want to shape it. Its sprawling nature requires care and maintenance. Place it near the entry of your house or close to the corner. This tree was made to be seen, it gets all the attention. You can also put it by the patio or your pool deck. It can add a touch of color and height to a blank wall. In any case, they will be a pleasure to look at.
